The Active Break Every Day Challenge is a 4 week, annual, challenge designed to support teachers to build movement breaks in to the school day.
This year’s challenge is proudly supported by the GAA who, working with the Active School Flag team, have created a set of English and Irish movement break videos to help get more schools, more active, more often.
The movement breaks videos are filmed in different locations around Croke Park giving classes a behind-the-scenes look at where the team buses arrive, inside the players’ dressing rooms and the warm up areas where legends get game ready. In addition, they will learn interesting facts about Croke Park.
Skip Around the World is a whole-of-school physical activity challenge with lots of in-built teaching and learning opportunities.
1 skip = 1 km
Schools/classes combine their skips/km to see which of the challenge destinations that they can reach. Registered schools will receive skipping equipment to support their engagement with this challenge (subject to availability).
Information webinars are scheduled for September 10 and 11.
A new Active School Flag Post Primary (ASFPP) accreditation process, tailor-made for post primary schools in Ireland, launched in 2026/2027.
The ASFPP process promotes physical activity, using a whole-of-school approach, anchored by student voice and student leadership. It aims to support schools to maximise the number of opportunities that students and staff have to be physically active, during the school day.
Recruitment for 2027/2028 will begin in November 2026.
